Virgen de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Woodcut)

Hey everybody!  A while ago I shared some process photos from the Virgen de Guadalupe print I was working on.  Today I would like to share some images of the completed piece.

Here I'm trimming out the light-weight chine-colle paper that i printed the block onto.

Print in progress: Getting weird with the chine-collé

Hey everybody!  Here are a few pics of the Virgen de Guadalupe woodblock I’ve been working on.  Last night I had the chance to test it out and pull some proofs!

My plan was to print the block onto strips of neon paper, so I inked the block in transparent red.  The transparent ink would appear to be a slightly different color on each different strip of paper.  I’m pretty pleased with how this effect worked out.

I then pulled a few versions with thinner strips of paper, which I liked a lot.  I think that is how I am going to proceed with the rest of the edition.

Woo! I'm pretty excited about this!

To finish this piece I’m going to trim down the strips to different lengths, and the paste everything down onto some nice rag paper.  And I’m considering adding some gold foil details.  You know, just to punch it up a little. We’ll see how it goes.  I will be posting updates as the piece progresses.

Print in Progress – Tiny Gold!

Hey everybody!  Today I just wanted to share some shots of the new piece I’m working on. It’s a tiny little 2in x 2in print that might be small in size, but it’s big on awesome!gold1

It’s a tiny little gold bar.  And just look at those majesty lines!  SO MAJESTIC!

When it’s complete, in all of it’s majestic, multi-block glory, this cute little guy will be one of  the rewards for contributors to my crowdfunding campaign who kick in $3 to $5 per month.  So if your home could use a little art, you’re a fan of people who make bad ass stuff by hand, or you just like the word “ingot,”  I strongly recommend that you check it out.

I love this picture because to me it looks like the little pieces of linoleum are cheering. I think they are cheering for you, for reading my blog.  Thank you for reading my blog.  And don’t forget to stay tuned for shots of the completed print!

Here it is!This card is based on a linoleum cut print that I pulled by hand.  Now you can print this puppy out on some cardstock, cut it out, and you’ve got a unique valentine with a handmade look.  I hope you enjoy, and give it to someone special.
